Today I was encouraged by a passage from Isaiah 11. The first verse of this chapter says, “There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.”
THIS right HERE is POWERFUL! Have you ever thought about how crazy it is that…life can come from something that seems almost dead? It is amazing that a tree stump can produce a green shoot! It’s amazing that one small seed that doesn’t look “alive” can produce a beautiful plant. It’s amazing that despite a war torn, and fallen earth, God’s still in the business of making new LIFE in nature, but also in the hearts and lives of His people!
Rest assured that even if some areas of your life feel dead or like nothing is happening… that the God who physically raised Lazarus and Jesus Christ from the dead (how crazy is that!), can definitely revive your situation. Let’s take Him at His Word, “I am the way the truth and the LIFE…” Those were the words of Jesus Christ himself (John 14:6).
If things feel “dead” tell your feelings about your living God. Then tell them (your feelings) about the purpose and calling God created you to accomplish on this earth. If you don’t know your calling…ask God, and He will tell you exactly how you are to glorify Him on this earth (John 15:7).
God told me that my purpose would be accomplished through foreign mission work and writing, for someone else it may be accomplished by fighting against injustice in the legal system and sharing the Gospel with clients, for another it may be stopping the spread of communicable diseases and giving the Glory to God while you do it.
However God allows you to bring glory to His name…do it! Don’t shrink back from your calling. And accomplish your calling with the Power of the Holy Spirit! It is easier to accomplish your purpose while operating with the power that only comes through the Holy Spirit than by trying to do it yourself.
If you have areas that have you “stumped” in life, remember that Jesus is LIFE, and all you have to do is ask Him to come in and change it. Continue to abide in Him, pursue your calling, operate in His Power, and know that He will bring life.
I love you all! And God loves you so much more!
