What to Do When You Wake Up Feeling Blah…

You know those days where you hit the alarm clock 10, 15…or dare I say 20 times. These are the days when you know you need to get out of bed, but it is so difficult to be excited about anything taking place in the day because the love of your life is a million miles away and no one can understand except you and your partner.

Today was one of those days for me, but I want to encourage you that IT WILL GET EASIER AND IT WILL GET BETTER. 

It’s good to have a morning routine because on your “blah’ days you’ll have something to look forward to doing in the morning. My morning routine helps me re-focus the negative energy or depressed emotions that I am feeling into a more positive and purposeful outlook. Below is my routine, but I encourage you to create your own that helps you go from “blah” to “BA-BAM!”

LONG-DISTANCE MORNING ENCOURAGEMENT ROUTINE:

1st-Mentally convince yourself to roll out of bed, BE YOUR OWN CHEERLEADER! This may take 30 minutes or more, but YOU HAVE GOT TO GET UP (trust me…if you don’t you will sink into even greater sadness while missing your partner).

2nd-Roll out of bed and PRAISE YOURSELF for getting up…(I know this seems obvious, but if you are anything like me when you’re having a blah day, this is the first step to SUCCESS…#ButReallyThough)

3rd-Get on my knees and THANK GOD! You can even MAKE A LIST OF THINGS YOU ARE THANKFUL FOR and praise God for those things. I pray for my eyes to be focused on Jesus instead of being focused on my present circumstances (long distance). I have found that it is super helpful to focus on the good things happening in your life rather than the negative things when in a long distance relationship. This helps you re-focus and stay positive.

3rd-HOLY YOGA (if you don’t know what this is: https://holyyoga.net/)! I usually do a 30 minute holy yoga routine every morning. I found that it calms my anxious heart and helps me re-focus my sad thoughts (missing Evans) into productive thoughts (finding God’s purpose for my life in each day).

4th-Read a few pages of an encouraging book (my favorite is the Bible, but you can choose whatever makes you feel encouraged).

5th-Eat breakfast (preferably with mint or green tea). EATING BREAKFAST IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF! It gives you so much more energy to face the day ahead.
